Global Youth Service Day 2007 Projects:
- PTPI’s Fairfax Student Chapter (Fairfax, Virginia, USA) continued their GYSD project from last year. Members beautified their school’s senior courtyard by painting and adding new plants.
- PTPI’s Teens Working Together Student Chapter (Santa Ynez, California, USA) volunteered at the Vandenburg Air Force Base, assisted with the regional games for the Special Olympics. Students had the fun job of handing out awards!
- PTPI’s Kids Making a Difference (Wadsworth, OH, USA) Student Chapter continued their ongoing project to collect change to purchase animals for farmers in Indonesia through Heifer International.
- PTPI’s Delray Beach Student Chapter (Delray Beach, Florida, USA) made 140 sandwiches for low-income day care centers in their community.
- PTPI’s Southwestern Connecticut Student Chapter (Ridgefield, CT, USA) prepared and served food at the Dorothy Day Habitation Center to address the issue of the impoverished in their community.
- PTPI’s All for Peace Student Chapter (Sparta, New Jersey, USA) held a carwash with proceeds going to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund to help the healing of the Virginia Tech students and families. The chapter also sent their condolences to the NJ families who lost their children in the Virginia shooting.
- PTPI’s Vaslui Mihail Kogalniceanu Student Chapter (Vaslui, Romania) teamed up with volunteers from a local Economic College and planted 100 trees around the college on hilly slopes to prevent erosion. The chapter promoted the event through local media and articles were published in a local school magazine and website.
- PTPI’s BLUES Student Chapter (Memphis, Tennessee, USA) volunteered at the Memphis Botanic Gardens for the International Children’s Festival that was part of the Youth Education Festival. The chapter also worked international booths at the festival and shared their knowledge about other countries and cultures with others.
- PTPI’s GIFT Student Chapter (Secaucus, New Jersey, USA) took part in El Día de Los Niños (Children Day) with girl scouts. The chapter also took part in Relay for Life and packed healthcare supplies for Wrap4ASmile (non-profit that was started by the GIFT chapter’s president, Kevin Williams).
- PTPI’s Greater Princeton Student Chapter (Princeton, New Jersey, USA) created a project for Pedals for Progress, an NGO who sends the bikes to developing countries, giving citizens mobility and jobs to improve their economy.
- PTPI’s Greater New Orleans Student Chapter (New Orleans, Louisiana USA) began a project to benefit PTPI’s Operation Iraqi Children.
- PTPI’s EAGLES Student Chapter (Oroslavje, Croatia) members tutored students in school subjects.
- Many chapters participated in Invisible Children’s (www.invisiblechildren.com) Displace Me event on April 28th!
