Operation International Children Operation International Children (OIC) is a program functioning in partnership under People to People International. OIC is a grass-roots program founded in early 2004 by actor Gary Sinise and author Laura Hillenbrand. Sinise and Hillenbrand created OIC to give concerned Americans a way to reach out to war-stricken Iraqi children and support American troops in their efforts to assist them.
Get the word out. Print up flyers explaining the mission of "Operation Iraqi Children" and inviting students, parents, and PTPI members to participate. We can provide you with some art work to get started!
Set a deadline for the collection of materials and include the kit assembly instructions. Establish a central collection area where items can be sorted, boxed and labeled. Ask that donors bring in tape and sturdy shipping boxes.
Host a fundraiser! Supporters of Operation Iraqi Children also host fundraisers to benefit OIC. Just click on Donations for instructions on how to contribute monetarily. One hundred percent of all monetary donations are used to purchase supplies and offset shipping costs.
Volunteer! If you are in the Kansas City area, we are seeking assistance with assembling school kits at the OIC Warehouse.
Visit Operation International Children’s Web site http://www.operationinternationalchildren.org to learn more or contact Operation International Children’s Project Director Kelly Meyer at OICinfo@ptpi.org.
Global Landmine Initiative Your next step makes their next step possible. Create awareness and raise funds for PTPI's Global Landmine Initiative. Since 2004, generous donors have contributed more than $366,000 to support efforts in Sri Lanka and Cambodia. We mustn't stop now! Will you help restore what landmines destroy? Chapter members have helped through awareness dinners, yard sales, and more! For more information and ideas contact cindyspake@ptpi.org.
